Joel graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Laws in 2018. 

 

His civil and commercial practice includes commercial and contractual disputes, shareholder and director disputes and employment disputes. He has acted in cases under the rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC). 

 

His criminal practice includes corruption, financial crime, fraud, money laundering and forgery. He has acted in cases that involve the Commercial Affairs Department and the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau. 

 

He is committed in contributing to the community through the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme by representing individuals in need of criminal legal assistance.

  • Represented a director in a commodity trading fraud scheme before the High Court. 

  • Represented a multinational company in a setting aside application before the SICC. 

  • Represented a Singapore-listed company in a contingent tax liability dispute before the SICC.

  • Represented an Indonesian company in a maritime dispute before the SIAC.

  • Represented a commodity brokerage company in an employment dispute before the High Court. 

  • Represented an individual in a criminal forgery trial under Section 465 of the Penal Code. 

  • Represented an individual in Singapore’s largest money-laundering under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act 1992. 

  • Represented an individual in a corruption trial under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1960. 

  • Represented an individual for a Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences matter.
